The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) recognizes that gender inequality can be a significant constraint to economic growth and poverty reduction. Consequently, MCC ensures that gender is considered in the selection of eligible countries and integrated into the development and design of their Compact programs. With regard to the Jordan Compact, MCC works closely with the Millennium Challenge Account-Jordan (MCA-Jordan) to ensure gender is incorporated in the assessment and implementation of Compact projects, the monitoring of projects’ results, and the evaluation of impacts.
The Compact commits in Annex I that with the MCC Gender Policy, the Government will: (a) develop a comprehensive social and gender integration plan which, at a minimum, incorporates the findings of a comprehensive gender analysis, identifies approaches for regular, meaningful and inclusive consultations with women and other vulnerable/underrepresented groups, consolidates the findings and recommendations of project-specific social and gender analyses and sets forth strategies for incorporating findings of the social and gender analyses into final project designs, as appropriate (“Social and Gender Integration Plan”); and (b) ensure, through monitoring and coordination during implementation, that final Activity designs, construction tender documents, other bidding documents, and implementation plans are consistent with and incorporate the outcomes of the social and gender analyses and Social and Gender Integration Plan.
The following documents demonstrate the commitment to promoting gender integration at all levels of the Compact:
