First Beneficiary WWNP

MCA-Jordan awarded a Thank You certificate to the first beneficiary to connect to the Wastewater Network Project in Zarqa Governorate. The project is financed by the US Government’s MCC.

Mrs. Sara Ibrahim Salem has been using a cesspit for 20 years and was burdened by the health challenges of overflow as well as the economic load of paying a tanker to clear its cesspit. Now none of these problems linger after connecting.

Representatives from MCA-Jordan, MCC and Water Authority of Jordan/Zarqa were present at the celebration.

The Wastewater Network Project will provide direct benefits to the residents of Zarqa Governorate, for a total of approximately 100,000 people, will have opportunities to connect to new lateral sewer lines over the next twenty years and forego the installation, maintenance and potential health risks associated with the use of cesspits in an urban environment
