The Millennium Challenge Account-Jordan held a workshop on December 11, 2012 to brainstorm ideas that will lead to developing and refining the Social, Outreach and Engineering Services contract within the Water Smart Homes Activity. The Water Smart Homes Activity is an intervention at the household level that aims to improve the condition of home water systems and decrease costs that households, particularly poor households, in Zarqa Governorate incur to satisfy their subsistence water needs.
The Activity will be implemented through two separate contracts; 1) the Social, Outreach and Engineering Services Contract and 2) the Infrastructure Works Contract. The Social, Outreach and Engineering Services includes design and implementation of the outreach campaign in addition to administration of the Infrastructure Works. The outreach campaign will promote adoption of residential water best management practices to maintain water quality and quantity within households in Zarqa Governorate. While, the Infrastructure Works will provide direct assistance to poor households in Zarqa Governorate for critical improvements in their home water and wastewater systems for water storage, delivery and sanitation.
